Francesco Carrozzini, a photographer and filmmaker from Italy, had always dreamed of living in Los Angeles. That dream came true in 2017 when he found a Hollywood Regency-style home with a rich design legacy. Originally built and later remodeled by the well-known architect John Elgin Woolf, the house felt like the perfect fit for Carrozzini, especially given his deep roots in the fashion world. His mother, Franca Sozzani, was a major figure in fashion during her time at Vogue Italia, and Carrozzini even created a heartfelt documentary about her life.
He bought the home from hotelier Sean MacPherson shortly before marrying producer Bee Shaffer. The couple later welcomed their son, Oliver, in October. Since moving in, Carrozzini has carefully restored the home’s original parquet floors and white wooden ceilings. He also added cozy touches to the living room, including built-in bookcases and reading nooks.
With their strong connections to fashion and photography, it’s no surprise that the home features original works by iconic photographers like Mario Testino, Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Robert Capa, Thomas Struth, and Man Ray. The result is a space that feels both open and stylish.
Carrozzini spent an entire month selecting just the right shade of white for the interiors. His focus wasn’t on making big changes but on honoring the home’s original design through thoughtful restoration. Today, the house is officially recognized as a Los Angeles landmark.
